Customize Copilot in Dynamics 365 Field Service

A few days ago, I stumbled upon an article on learn.microsoft.com that talked about how to streamline inventory visibility in Dynamics 365 Field Service by customizing the out-of-the-box Copilot in the Field Service app. The website discussed the following example: when a user opens a work order and prompts Copilot in Field Service, it can automatically check the inventory in the connected Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management environment for the products tied to that work order (as long as those products are tracked for inventory). For example, if a work order requires a fan coil unit and a circuit breaker, Copilot can instantly show how many of each are in stock—pretty cool, right? I definitely thought so! But then I realized that not every D365 Field Service implementation has Supply Chain Management integrated; some might use different ERP systems. So, I decided to build my own solution for those scenarios: instead of querying an outside system, I will query the product inventory in Dynamics 365 Field Service.
