On October 27, 2026, the Republic of Cuba made an official announcement about a Daylight-Saving Time (DST) time zone change. Cuba has canceled 2026 year’s scheduled fall clock change. This means that the official time in Cuba will not be set back one hour as planned on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The Cuba government announced that daylight saving time will be maintained without interruption until November 7, 2027.
The impact of this change is as follows:
- Clocks will not be set back by an hour at 02:00 a.m. on November 1, 2026, for the Cuba time zone.
- The Cuba time zone will maintain daylight saving time without interruption until November 7, 2027.
Microsoft plans to release an update to support this change. However, a temporary fix or workaround is required for the transition period.

The following platforms will receive an update to support this time zone change as part of November 2026 security update, scheduled for November 10, 2026:

Interim Guidance when the update is unavailable
According to How Windows manages time zone changes, we require sufficient time to properly build, test, and release an update for all platforms before the change goes into effect. Therefore, a Windows update will be delivered shortly after the change takes effect. The above-mentioned windows OS platforms will receive support for Cuba time zone change in the November 2026 security update, scheduled for November 10, 2026.
Until then, devices will display incorrect local time. Affected organizations with devices in Republic of Cuba are advised to use the following fixed-offset alternatives only as temporary workarounds. After November 1, 2026:
- Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time. Please ensure that “Set time zone automatically” toggle is turned off.
- Select the time zone option from “(UTC-05:00) Havana” to “(UTC-04:00) Georgetown, La Paz, Manaus, San Juan”.
These alternatives provide the required UTC offset but have different names, geographic mappings, and historical rules. They should not be treated as permanent replacements.
We recommend installing the November 2026 Windows monthly update and moving to the appropriate region-specific time zone as soon as possible.
Validation checks after installing the update
After installing the November 2026 security update, check that devices display the correct local time.
- Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time. Please ensure that the “set time zone automatically” toggle is turned on.
- If “Set time zone automatically” toggle is turned on and location services are available, Windows will automatically select the appropriate time zone based on the device’s location. No manual action is required.
- Verify and confirm that the displayed date and time correspond to the “(UTC-04:00) Havana” time zone.
