Storyline in Microsoft Teams: The Missing Link in Digital Connection

That’s where Storyline, powered by Viva Engage, steps in. It’s Microsoft’s answer to the internal “social feed.” Allowing every user a space to post thoughts, celebrate wins, and connect across silos, all without leaving Teams. If LinkedIn and Teams had a baby (and it was compliant, secure, and part of Microsoft 365), it would be Storyline.

What Is Storyline?

Storyline lives inside Microsoft Teams and Viva Engage, offering each person a dedicated personal feed. Think of it as your internal LinkedIn profile where you can:

You’ll notice a Storyline tab in your Teams chat with yourself.

From there, you can:

• React and comment without leaving Teams
• View announcements from leaders or departments

Each Storyline post is stored securely in OneDrive, subject to your organization’s governance and retention policies. For admins, enablement happens in the Viva Engage admin center, which controls visibility, compliance, and notification settings.

Storytelling at Scale

Storyline is a gift to leadership teams. Instead of the occasional all-hands email, executives can post shorter, authentic reflections that land directly in the Teams feed of employees who follow them.

Examples:
