The Storage Minefield with Matthew Bradley | Azure Thames Valley – February 2021 Meetup – YouTube

This video was recorded on 17th February 2021, for the Azure Thames Valley User Group. Azure Thames Valley is back! In this session, Alicia, Chris and Josip talk through their plans for the local group as it’s kickstarted virtually, until a time where we can all meet in person once again. Chris walks through some of the latest and greatest Azure Updates, as well as some tips/tricks to keep up to date with the goings-on in the community.

Azure Thames Valley is a group for anyone interested in Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing Platform and Services. We meet on the Third Tuesday of Every Month. It will be virtual only until it’s safe for us to resume in-person. But, when normality resumes, we’ll also keep the virtual option to be accessible and inclusive!

Azure Thames Valley is an open and inclusive environment for all to come together. We ask you familiarise yourself and follow our Code of Conduct on our website (link a little further below).

And then for the main event, Matthew Bradley of UKFast joins to talk about The Azure Storage Minefield. Storage in Azure is a minefield. There’s queues, files, blobs, tables. Then there is hot, cold, archive, standard, premium, ultra. Storage can be version 1 or version 2 and a ‘blob’ storage account doesn’t even allow you to store all types of blob! The different options have different prices, performance, and availability. So having knowledge of how all of these storage options work, along with their limitations, will ensure that you choose the right platform, for the right data.
