Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales and Customer Insights Certifications Retirement: What You Need to Know

Malin MartnesCustomer Insights8 months ago12 Views

You might have seen it already, Microsoft are retiring the mb-210 Dynamics 365 Sales, mb-220 Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys and mb-260 Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data certifications. They are coming out with the new certification Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Customer Experience Analyst Associate.

Do I think this is a good idea – No.
Is there anything we can do – also no. We can just adapt and move on.
Is everything dark and no future in training – luckily also no!

The retiring certifications will retire end of November, so there’s still some time for you to schedule and take them, it’s never wrong to showcase your skill, even with an outgoing certification. It’s also never wrong to do training on this, as the products aren’t going away, it’s just the certifications retiring, the existing training will still be valuable.

They have now released the new information about the certification, and it’s as I feared, hardly anything about CI, it’s as much CI that there is Outlook integration. 10-15 % of the questions might be from CI. I didn’t like it before, I like it even less now.

How will this affect me?

Student

You can take the training and the certification until the end of November. In September you will also get a new certification which contains Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Insights – Journeys and Data. How will it be, no idea, I’ll update this post when more information becomes public. I do think it’s going to be a though certification as it will span over three wildly different apps.

For Microsoft Partners/consultants

The three certifications that’s now going away will still count for the partner requirements until they are removed from the transcript, one year after the certification is taken/renewed/retired. Will the new certification count for the partners? Most likely, but that will be shared when it’s official.

For MCT’s

Three certification will become one, training partners might not want to schedule these three trainings because it’s going away. It’s not good, but nothing can be done. We can just wait for the new training materials to come, and get ready for the new one.

But there are some good news – Applied skills.

Applied skills

Applied Skills are online, on-demand assessments that require you to complete a series of tasks in an interactive lab experience. These are smaller tests on a specific area of the technology, for CI this could be creating a journey or a segment. As of today (June 2024) the applied skills are free and unmonitored.

Browse the applied skills.

Trainings

Because we’re moving away from three certifications, you would assume that there will be less training. Microsoft are creating training for each of the applied skills that are coming out. So instead of the 4 day trainings we have today, you’ll have 1 day training days for the specific areas. Hopefully that should lead to the same amount (or more) of training potential and more focused training.

How the future will be, nobody knows. I do love the applied skills and thing it’s a very good thing Microsoft are focusing on. Personally I still think there is a place for the full certification and I wish they stayed, but there’s nothing that can be done about that at this point.

If you do want to have a full overview training – you would have to get custom training created and delivered for you. If you do want that – I can create and deliver that training for you!
