GitHub Copilot Coding Agent helps you stay strong on the bike…

There is one thing that is mandatory for me to complete during the week (and especially during the weekend): bike training 🚴.
Bike training in a “competitive” way means spending hours in the saddle, being careful of pitfalls, tackling long climbs (which I love) and long descents (which I love a little less 😉), observing your physical parameters (watts, heart rate etc) during the effort via the technological tools that the modern technology makes available to us (for example my lovely Garmin Edge🥰).
All these tasks require a lot of concentration.

But sometimes it is precisely these technological tools that cause the concentration on the effort to stop for a moment. And yesterday it was just one of these days…

I was on my bike for a cool-down ride and, looking at the notifications that appear via my phone on my Garmin Edge, an alert from GitHub Mobile appeared to me: someone opened an issue on an internal Business Central app:

Oh sheet… this is urgent 🚨, but I have no time to work on it now, I need to ride 🚵… let’s assign the issue to GitHub Coding Agent!

I stopped my bike for a minute ⏸, I took my phone out of my pocket, opened GitHub Mobile, looked at the details of the issue and assigned it to GitHub:

Clicked Done and then I continued to ride…

The issue was assigned to GitHub Copilot Coding Agent and the agent will take care of that task (two nice eyes appears on the issue to signal that the agent is working on that) while I’m riding:

GitHub Copilot worked in the background, using its own secure cloud-based development environment powered by GitHub Actions. Copilot explored the repository and proposed code changes accordingly to the issue. Once Copilot was done, it tagged me for review.

When at home (ride🚴 and shower 🚿finished successfully) I opened my MacBook 💻 and on my GitHub I had the pull request proposal from the agent:

The GitHub Copilot Coding Agent has done a PR with a detailed descriptions of the AL code modifications needed for solving the issue:

It created a set of modifications (new events added to my AL code) and it assigned a code review to me:

Spent few minutes on checking the code… all work was done autonomously by GitHub Copilot Coding Agent. Pull request accepted. Work done! I can go to dinner in peace…

GitHub Copilot Coding Agent saved my ride… 💘

P.S. GitHub Copilot Coding Agent is in preview right now and must be enabled on your GitHub organization/account in order to use it.
