Customer Insights – Journey March Madness

You probably know that there is an update on Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys every month. This month there are some huge improvements that we’ve been waiting on for a long time. This first post goes through how you can use new unmapped fields in marketing forms.

This one has been on the release waves multiple times, but has always been pushed – until now!

You’ll need to go to the feature switches and turn on the “Custom unmapped fields”. After you save it, you might need to start your browser again for it to appear in your forms.

When you create a new marketing form you’ll now have access to all these new fields that doesn’t need to be stored in Dataverse! For event forms we’ll need to wait until April. These fields are stored in the form submissions. It seems like at the time of writing this blog, you need to save the form before the new fields appear.

Forms with the possibility of creating new fields

Simply drag the field you want to the form, give it a name and you’re good to go!

For the option set you can select if you want to show it as a radio button or a dropdown, and give it as many options as you’d like. With the radio and checkbox you have two options, but can as the name says, have it as radio buttons with two options or a checkbox.

In the date and time field you can have either just date, or date and time. With this you can also limit the input range, and set the start and end date of the range.

You can also save the fields if you want to reuse it for another form. The unmapped and saved fields will show in the same section as the regular Dataverse fields, but under unmapped fields.

Now you can use it in an email. Not something I would recommend as it will dump all the information from the form in the email, but there might be reasons why you would want to do that. You need to find the “FormSubmissionFieldsSnapshot” from the trigger Marketing form registration.

Use the personalization “FormSubmissionFieldsSnapshot” in an email

As you can see, the email doesn’t really format very well, especially when you have the consent values in the form.

You can also use the Form Submission Fields Snapshot in journeys. You can use it to branch journeys. Be aware that the journey has to start from the trigger “Marketing Form Submitted”

I know we had this in Outbound and a lot of users have been waiting on it – go test it in your environment. I love the feature!
