Release wave 1 2026 Customer Insights – Journeys

The information about the first release wave for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform for 2026 is out, and Microsoft has some snacks we’ve been waiting for some time for you in this release for Customer Insights – Journeys! Private preview is PP and General Available is GA.

I’ve also written a post about the release wave in Customer Insights – Data.

Boost customer confidence with branded content links

PP September ’26 / GA December ’26

The branded links are back, but this time I’m sure we’ll actually see them! You know how every time you send out anything and you get these horrible long Microsoft branded links? This is the medicine to fix that! You’ll be able to customize the links to show your url and not the Microsoft standard one. I know a lot of my customers are waiting on this feature – and we’ve kept asking Microsoft for it for a long time, finally it’s coming!

Automatically update emails with the latest content

PP April ’26 / GA July ’26

Behind this title is a feature a lot of users has been asking for! Dynamic content blocks that actually updates emails after they’re put in the emails. Today all content blocks are static, they never update an email after they’re in the email or template. You’d have to remove them and put them back in again.

With this new dynamic content block – they will update the emails where you’ve used them. This will make updating content so much easier. Let’s say you have the year in a content block you use as a header or footer. Next year you’d have to update this in all the emails with a static content block. With the dynamic content block you just update the content block and all emails you’ve used the block in is automatically updated. You’ll still have the option to create a static content block that doesn’t update anything if you still need that option. This is going to help so much for so many email creators in keeping things up to date.

Transform customer journeys into action with record creation

PP April ’26 / No GA date

You know how you’ve been able to create opportunity and leads from a journey for some time now (well, if you’ve turned the feature switch for that on). That’s getting a proper upgrade and becoming a lot better!

You’ll now be able to create any type of record or activity from a journey! You can use custom tables and activities and all and any columns! You can add dynamic content from contacts or leads making this a powerful tool to use for creating from a journey.

Let’s say you want to give administration a task to contact someone whos email bounced, now you can create a task and add dynamic content to that on who to contact and why they need to contact them. This opens up a whole new field of opportunities on what to create from the journey where you previously have needed Power Automate or other custom code.

Set message expirations to keep communication relevant

PP March ’26 / GA May ’26

This is a feature we’ve seen in the release planner before, but now it’s available to test already, and going GA in May, so this is the first feature to come out for this release. this feature makes sure things aren’t sent out that’s not relevant any more by setting an expiration date. Imagine doing a full event journey and then someone registers the day before the event, they shouldn’t get all of the reminders, maybe just the last one. Well now you can set the expiration date and say they don’t need to get the other reminders, just the last one.

Boost engagement with Copilot-powered conversational text messages

No PP date / GA April ’26

This is connected to the Dynamics 365 Contact Center integration and connecting Copilot Studio agents to have the SMS conversations with your customers. As we all know the Customer Studio agents are smarter and can have conversations in a completely different way than the “normal” SMS features which aren’t conversational.

Summary

It’s not the biggest release wave, but there are some big things we’ve been waiting for, for a long time in the wave, and I’m sure the team are working on a lot of other things that we’ll see in the release planner when they know when they can know they can deliver.
