How to populate lookup columns using Copilot Studio’s Dataverse Connector

Today I was building an agent in Copilot Studio, and I wanted it to pull knowledge from Dataverse, reason over it, and, if needed, create a new record with the Dataverse connector. Sounds simple enough, right?
Well… not quite. The tricky part was that I needed to populate two lookup fields when creating the record. After a few hours of trial and error (and some head-scratching), I still couldn’t find any clear guidance online.
That’s when my friend and coworker, Sahib Sawhney, jumped in to help! Together we figured it out! Since there wasn’t anything out there on how to do this, I thought, why not share the solution?
