Dynamics 365 Business Central: announcing Italy North availability.

This is the post for the Italian customers and partners that I had in the bag from months.

I think you know that until today, every Dynamics 365 Business Central customer tenant is deployed in the West Europe or North Europe region. But finally, something is changing…

Starting from Dynamics 365 Business Central version 27.3, all IT customers will start be deployed on Italy North datacenter, located in Milan.

Also existing IT environments will start be moved to Italy North starting from version 27.3. Please note that in order for Microsoft to successfully move the existing Business Central environment to Italy North, you need to unlink the environment from the Power Platform environment (in case you have established a link time ago).

Announced in 2020 and launched in 2023, this is Microsoft’s first cloud region in Italy:

It took time to have Business Central deployed in this new data center (mainly for compliances and tools availability reason). We would like to announced that last year during the BC Day Italy event, but this was not possible. But now we are here…🎉

But what does that mean practically for partners and customers? Mainly one topic: better network performance!

This is the latency difference, comparing West Europe, North Europe and Italy North from a Business Central environment located in Italy:

As you can see, reaching Italy North datacenter took 26 ms on average, while reaching West Europe took 42 ms and reaching North Europe took 55 ms.

I think this is self-explanatory about the gain. Bringing your data closer to you is a key benefit of the cloud platform (and the power of Azure).

And now let’s all toast together 🥂
